Sansevieria Masoniana (Whale Fin Sansevieria, Mason’s Congo Sansevieria, Shark’s Fin Sansevieria or Whale Fin Plant) has large, paddle-shaped leaves, which can grow up to 4 feet long and 10 inches wide. They have a rich green color, often mottled with lighter spots and stripes. The edges of the leaves can sometimes have a reddish or purplish hue. When it blooms, which is rare indoors, the plant produces small, greenish-white flowers. These flowers are typically fragrant. Sansevieria Masoniana grows upright and has a very striking appearance due to its broad, singular leaves. Unlike other Sansevieria species, Whale Fin typically has fewer but much broader leaves. The plant spreads through underground rhizomes, which can lead to the emergence of new shoots around the base of the parent plant. The broad, sculptural leaves add a bold statement to interior decor. Its unique appearance makes it a conversation piece. It contributes to humidity levels indoors by releasing moisture into the air through transpiration and removing toxins.
