Red Maranta

Red Maranta (Red Prayer Plant, Herringbone Plant) has broad, oval-shaped leaves that are typically dark green with lighter green patches along the central vein. The midrib and veins are often deep red, creating a striking contrast. The underside of the leaves is usually a deep purplish-red. The leaves display a herringbone or fishbone pattern, contributing to its decorative appeal. Red Maranta grows as a low, spreading plant, typically reaching up to 12 inches in height and spreading outwards. This plant is known for its nyctinasty – a phenomenon where the leaves fold up at night like hands in prayer and open out flat during the day. The vibrant colors and striking patterns of the leaves add a touch of beauty and exoticism to indoor spaces.
