- lighting: Pitcher Plant prefers to grow in bright diffused light. A south or east-facing window is ideal.
- watering: Keep the soil consistently moist but not waterlogged. Water the plant regularly and ensure the pot has good drainage. During hot season it is watered systematically immediately after the top layer of the soil in the pot dries a bit. Use mild, settled water of room temperature.
- fertilizing: the plant doesn’t need extra feeding. It gets all necessary nutrients from the insects. So it requires to get an insect at least once a month. Put the insect each time into different pitcher to feed the plant with all necessary nutrients.
- humidity: Pitcher Plant prefers humid air, that is why it is necessary to moist its foliage daily.
- temperature: most Pitcher Plants prefer temperatures between 60-80°F. Avoid exposing them to temperatures below 50°F. Note that the plant does not stand drafts.
- repotting: Repot pitcher plants every 1-2 years to refresh the soil and provide more space for growth. The best time to repot is in the spring when the plant is entering its growing season. Use a mix of sphagnum moss and perlite or a specialized carnivorous plant soil mix.
