Care Instructions

  • lighting: Fern prefers bright indirect light. Some ferns can tolerate lower light conditions, making them suitable for shadier spots in your home.
  • watering: Ferns like consistently moist soil but not waterlogged. Water when the top inch of soil feels dry. Use rain, distilled or melt water, if any, otherwise use settled water of room temperature.
  • fertilizing: Feed ferns monthly during the growing season (spring and summer) with a balanced, water-soluble fertilizer diluted to half strength. Avoid feeding during the fall and winter when the plant’s growth slows down.
  • humidity: Ferns thrive in environments with 50-80% humidity. Regular misting can help increase humidity. Bathrooms and kitchens, where humidity is naturally higher, can be ideal locations for ferns.
  • temperature: the temperature should be between 60 and 75 °F. Protect ferns from drafts, sudden temperature changes, and temperatures below 50°F.
  • repotting: repot ferns every 1-2 years, or when they outgrow their pot, in the spring. Use a well-draining, peat-based potting mix with added perlite or sand to ensure proper drainage.
