Anthurium Superbum

Anthurium Superbum (Bird’s Nest Anthurium, Velvet Cardboard Anthurium, Queen Anthurium) is a tropical plant prized for its striking foliage and unique growth habit. The leaves of Anthurium Superbum are large, dark green, and have a velvety texture. The top side of the leaves is a deep, lush green, often with a subtle sheen, while the undersides are a rich burgundy or maroon. This contrast in color makes the plant particularly appealing. While Anthurium Superbum is grown mainly for its foliage, it does produce small, inconspicuous flowers. The inflorescence is a spadix, surrounded by a spathe, typical of the Anthurium genus. However, these flowers are usually less showy than those of other Anthurium species. Anthurium Superbum grows in a rosette pattern, with leaves radiating outward from a central point, forming a “bird’s nest” shape. This plant tends to grow relatively slowly and can reach heights of 2 to 3 feet with a similar spread. The leaves can grow up to 2 feet long and are quite broad, giving the plant a robust appearance. The dramatic, large leaves with their unique coloration and texture make Anthurium Superbum a striking focal point in any indoor plant collection.
