  • lighting: Ponytail Palms thrive in bright, indirect light but can tolerate lower light conditions. However, they will grow more slowly in less light. A spot near a south or west-facing window is ideal.
  • watering: water the plant preferably in the tray under it. During hot season it requires copious irrigation after the soil dries out completely. In winter the watering is poor. Use soft, settled water of room temperature.
  • fertilizing: feed the plant with a balanced, water-soluble fertilizer once a month during the growing season.
  • humidity: Ponytail Palm requires normal level of humidity. If the air is too much dry mist the palm or clean it with soft cloth. Try to avoid trunk area, as it can start to rot and grow moldy.
  • temperature: Ponytail Palm prefers temperatures between 60-80°F. The plant can tolerate temperatures as low as 50°F (10°C) but should be protected from drafts and sudden temperature changes.
  • repotting: Repot every 2-3 years, or when the plant outgrows its current pot. They prefer to be slightly root-bound, so frequent repotting is not necessary. Use a well-draining soil mix, such as cactus or succulent mix. Choose a pot that is only slightly larger than the current one.
